New Idea

List a new idea or concept (not just a "fact") you've learned about your game topic since you started this course. How did you come to learn this? What sources where helpful to you in gaining this understanding? What makes these news or research sources especially informative and trustworthy?

A new idea we came up with was to add a giant pink sasquatch to the end of our game.  This will add some humor to our game.  I've learned that our game is more about physics and the environment.  Google was helpful in finding images for our game.  I think google is trustworthy, but you have to find the correct link thats helpful to your game.

My Favorite Game

My favorite game or games of all time has to be the Madden series.  I've played them ever since I got my first game console.  They have progressed in graphics tremendously over the years.  I think that these games are the most fun to play.  They take roughly over a year to make. I go and buy my copy every year at the midnight premier.

Demo

Do you think you've learned more about your game topic in the process of making this demo? If so, what have you learned and why do you think you've acquired this new knowledge? If not, why not?

I found out that my group's game isn't as well developed as we thought it was. I also have learned that our game topic is more about physics than anything.  I think that we need to work harder on our game to get it looking presentable for the state. I've learned hard work equals a better game.

STEM

Civics: is the study of rights and duties of citizenship. In other words, it is the study of government with attention to the role of citizens ― as opposed to external factors ― in the operation and oversight of government.  You could do a game about our government.  Answer questions about our government structure.

News literacy:  You could have levels about what's going on in the news.  Such as natural disasters etc..

Citizenship:  You could have series of questions based on the process of obtaining your green card. Also, you could do questions on foreign policies and the laws behind illegal immigrants.

Favorite Gaming system

My favorite gaming system has to be the xbox 360 by Microsoft.  The controllers just seem to fit my hand better than any other system I've had.  The cables are strong not to mention its got top of the line graphics.  The xbox has a huge storage system to save everything on it from games to music.  I've got the newest xbox 360 and I love it.  It has HDMI, built in WiFi, and 250 mg storage system.  The xbox is definitely the best option for the price.

Favorite Expierence

My favorite time in this class has to be when Nick "hunts" Joey.  It's so funny.  The mini game project is another one of my favorites, because I added Yoda to my game instead of that rabbit.  Making our prototype for our game was pretty fun also.  The Sasquatch in our game was the best part.  Nick used his redneck voice to make even funnier.

Respect Our Military

     
     First off, you should always respect the military for keeping us free.  The military goes where it is told by the senators. If you don't like what the military is doing, call your senator, but don't blame the soldiers who are just doing their jobs and trying to stay alive.  Young or old vets, they should all be respected the same.  They lay their life on the line for us everyday.  My dad was a highly decorated military official.  He served his time during the Vietnam war.  At the time he was the youngest Sergent in the army at age 17.  That is a whole lot of responsibility for a 17 year old.  I'm 17 now and still don't know how he did it.  After the war he was head judo instructor for the United States judo team.  I have the utmost respect for my dad and the military for keeping me safe and free.  My photo explains it perfectly.

Sound

In our game we will be adding car sounds.  Also try to add some city noises since we are trying to cross an Internet.  It will make the person playing it feel like their trying to cross the road themselves!  Other than that we wont have much sound.  Maybe a crashing sound when you get hit by a car or noises for each animal on each level of our game.

Flash

I like working in flash sometimes, but other times I hate it.  Flash is hard at times but also fun.  I get to learn a new thing everyday.  Our group is very studious and intellegent.  Our game is priceless.

Visual Story Telling

Creating scenes in a sequence helps game designers tell the "story" of their game through a narrative. How are you using visual storytelling through your sequence of scenes to help players learn about your topic? What are examples of games you played in the Playing to Learn topic that use storytelling to teach a concept well? How have other narrative games influenced your game?

Our game uses real life objects such as cars, trucks, and even sport cars.  You have to cross the road with your animal for that level.  It doen't have much of a story line to it at all.  No game has really influenced ours.  The only game that is close is Frogger.

Drawing A Scene

Today I learned how to draw a scene.  I haven't been here in a couple days, so im a little behind.  The tutorials helped me a lot.  I drew a bunch of different stuff in flash.  It wasn't that hard.  Tomorrow I'll be able to help my teamates create scenes for our game. 

Paper Prototype

Well we are very much done drawing our game...not.  I wish we were though.  I currently can't draw anything, because of an injury.  Our prototype paper title is RoadKill Cafe. It'll be similiar to frogger in some ways.  Each level will have a different animal to cross the road with.  The object of the game is to cross the road without getting hit by a car.

We arent to smart at these code things I think we need to practice on this a lot.  It took us a long time on the mini game project just to get the bunny to move!  It's very frustrating. We are currently drawing out our game.

Gaming in Globaloria

The game that I thought was the best was bullseye.  I like it because its challenging and actually works correctly.  This game should be similiar to our game that we will be creating.  In the game bullseye I really like how the scenery was set up and how you could adjust the wind speed. What are they thinkin? was a very good learning game but it wasn't nearly as fun as Hersey.  Hersey wasn't a good learning game at all though. The past two days ive been learning code.  Learning code gives me a whole new perspective on gaming.  It's so hard just to make one bunny move in the right direction.  Now when I play video games i have more respect for the people who made them.

First Blog

This will be a new experience for me and my classmates.  I hope to design a few games that actually work right.  Im excited to see how my team's game turns out.  I think that learning the codes will be the hardest thing to do in the class.  Codes are the only thing im really worried about.  Overall this class should be a fun learning experience.  Im looking forward to creating an adventure game.  You'll have to run to collect coins on a map before the time runs out.  If you dont achieve the needed amount you dont get to move on.  Computer privacy is very important.  If people can get into your stuff they can do a whole bunch of things.  They can steal your identity, get into your bank account, view personal information, or even find where you live and stalk you.  There's a whole world of creepers out there so protect your computer!
